Deputy Chief of Police
Deputy Chief Brent McCain serves as the second-in-command of the Paragould Police Department, providing executive leadership and strategic oversight of departmental operations. In this role, he works closely with the Chief of Police and Division Captains to guide organizational direction, operational effectiveness, professional standards, and long-term planning.
Deputy Chief McCain is responsible for department-wide budget development and oversight, procurement, policy development, and professional standards. He plays a central role in internal investigations, organizational compliance, and executive decision-making, while ensuring responsible stewardship of public resources. He routinely assumes command during major incidents and critical events, ensuring continuity of operations and coordinated response efforts. Deputy Chief McCain also works closely with city leadership, community stakeholders, and partner agencies to advance public safety initiatives and maintain public trust.
Deputy Chief McCain began his career with the Paragould Police Department in 1998 and has advanced through the ranks through demonstrated leadership, experience, and performance. His background includes oversight of patrol operations, specialized units, and critical incident response, including service as Patrol Captain and SWAT Commander. He is a graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Risk Management from Arkansas State University, and has completed advanced executive and leadership training, including FBI Command College and the Chief of Police Executive Development course, as well as the U.S. Army SWAT School.
